It's simple! O'Brien names new TV show "Conan"
NEW YORK |
NEW YORK (Reuters) - Simplicity ruled talk show host Conan O'Brien's decision on the name of his new show, announced on Wednesday. He is calling it, "Conan."
The embattled U.S. comedian, who was replaced by Jay Leno after a short-lived stint as host of the popular late-night "Tonight Show" program on NBC, said his new talk show on cable TV network TBS would premiere November 8.
In a video announcement posted on showbiz website variety.com, O'Brien flashed the show's name on a piece of paper, before joking, "There it is, 'Conan', simple, pure, like the man himself."
O'Brien pulled the plug on his "Tonight Show" gig just seven months after taking over from Leno. He criticized NBC for pushing O'Brien's version of the "Tonight Show" to a later start time to make way for a new show hosted by Leno.
The comic eventually left with a $45 million severance deal, signed an agreement to mount his new late-night talk show on TBS, and has since been on a live comedy tour.
