HOUSTON (Reuters) - Thirteen workers were taken from a burning oil platform in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico on Thursday by an oil support vessel and taken to another platform, a Coast Guard spokeswoman said.

The platform continued to burn about two hours after an explosion on the rig was reported, said Coast Guard fireman Katherine McNamara.

No oil or sheen from the burning platform was seen in the water by Coast Guard helicopters on scene, McNamara said.
