"Paranormal Activity" team near deal for ABC pilot
LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - The creators of the hit scary movie "Paranormal Activity" are near a deal to bring a spooky small-screen project to ABC.
"The River," from "Paranormal" writer-director Oren Peli and "Paranormal 2" screenwriter Michael R. Perry, revolves around the search for a missing person on the Amazon. It employs the found-video footage format popularized by "Blair Witch Project," "Cloverfield" and, of course, "Paranormal Activity," whose sequel opens October 22.
The duo partnered with Dreamworks TV and ABC Studios. Sources say the ABC network aggressively pursued the project, edging out NBC.
