SEOUL, Sept 7 (Reuters) - Samsung Life (032830.KS) has hired Stephan Rajotte, former president of Sun Life Financial Asia (SLF.TO) (SLF.N), as vice president for foreign operations, a spokesman told Reuters, as it seeks to expand its overseas business.

South Korea's biggest life insurer hopes Rajotte, a 27-year insurance veteran who also worked for Metlife Inc (MET.N), will help boost its foreign expansion, the spokesman said. Samsung has operations in Vietnam, China and Thailand.

Shares in Samsung, which raised $4.4 billion in May in the country's biggest ever initial public offering, fell 0.88 percent as of 0248 GMT, versus the wider market's .KS11 0.10 percent drop.
