WASHINGTON (Reuters) - EADS (EAD.PA) Chief Executive Louis Gallois said the European company intends to compete aggressively but to be profitable in the multibillion-dollar U.S. tanker competition against U.S. rival Boeing Co (BA.N).

"We'll be competitive but we intend to be profitable," Gallois told the Reuters Aerospace and Defense Summit in Washington.

"We are not ready to kill the price," he added.
