TOKYO, Sept 9 (Reuters) - Japan's deputy finance minister said the government is ready to take swift steps if necessary to craft an extra budget to boost the economy but that it must first examine the effects of a planned stimulus package.
Motohisa Ikeda also said the government must secure revenue resources if it is to cut corporate tax rates. Earlier, Prime Minister Naoto Kan told cabinet ministers to reach a decision on corporate tax cuts by December, when the government will compile a budget for the fiscal year from next April.
The government is expected to decide on the stimulus package on Friday, using reserve funds earmarked in the current fiscal year's budget without issuing extra new bonds to finance it. (Reporting by Tetsushi Kajimoto; Editing by Michael Watson)
