TOKYO, Sept 9 (Reuters) - Bank of Japan Governor Masaaki Shirakawa said he did not talk about currencies and monetary policy at a government meeting on Thursday aimed at discussing ways to achieve economic growth.
Asked if he discussed these two issues at the meeting, Shirakawa said there had been no such debate.
However, Finance Minister Yoshihiko Noda said some participants had raised the issue of the yen's rise at the meeting.
Shirakawa and Noda were speaking to reporters after the meeting between cabinet ministers and private-sector panel members. (Reporting by Tetsushi Kajimoto; Editing by Chris Gallagher)
