REFILE-UK Stocks -- Factors to watch on Sept 9
(Corrects Reuters instrument code for WM Morrison)
LONDON, Sept 9 (Reuters) - Britain's FTSE 100 .FTSE is seen falling on Thursday, retreating after gains in the previous session, with mining stocks likely to come under pressure as metals prices tumbled in the wake of a Chinese-led sell-off.
The UK blue-chip index looks set to shed 14 to 16 points, or 0.3 percent, according to financial bookmakers, after it closed up 21.92 points, or 0.4 percent, at 5,429.74 on Wednesday.
Market participants said a slide in Chinese commodity futures was linked to a government investigation of speculative funds in the Shanghai rubber market <0#SNR:>, which precipitated a decline across the board from zinc to soyoil to cotton. [ID:nTOE68803K]
U.S. stocks .DJI .SPX rose on Wednesday, while Japan's Nikkei .N225 added 0.5 percent on Thursday, after successful bond auctions in Portugal and Poland helped ease worries about Europe's debt problems.
Later on Thursday, investors will eye the release of UK July trade data at 0830 GMT, which is expected to show the trade deficit widened from the previous month, while at midday the Bank of England is set to announce its interest rate decision.
Across Europe, French jobs and German CPI data is due, while in the United States, weekly jobless data and July trade figures are set to be released.
