Italy 5-mo jewellery export up 23 pct yr/yr-industry

VICENZA, Italy, Sept 10 (Reuters) - Export of Italian jewellery jumped 23 percent year-on-year to 1.78 billion euros ($2.26 billion) in the first five months of 2010 driven by demand from China and other emerging markets, the industry fair said on Friday.

Italian jewellery sector, the leading exporter in the world, should focus on emerging countries which drive global economic growth while their domestic market stagnates, Vicenza's international jewellery fair said in a statement. (Reporting by Svetlana Kovalyova)
