Dutch Christian Democrat MPs fail to decide on coalition

AMSTERDAM, Sept 30 | Wed Sep 29, 2010 10:11pm EDT

AMSTERDAM, Sept 30 (Reuters) - Legislators of the Dutch Christian Democrats failed to resolve internal divisions on Thursday over whether to enter a right-leaning minority government reliant on support from an anti-Islam party.

Christian Democrats' leader Maxime Verhagen said they agreed instead to present a deal for a coalition government, consisting of the Christian Democrats, Liberals and the anti-Islam Freedom Party, to all party members on Saturday.

"We will give a final judgment after the discussion at the conference," Verhagen told reporters in a statement aired live on television. (Reporting by Gilbert Kreijger and Aaron Gray-Block)
