JAKARTA Oct 12 (Reuters) - Indonesia's total domestic car sales, an indicator of consumer demand in Southeast Asia's biggest economy, rose 32 percent in September from a year ago, slower growth than seen earlier this year.
Sales declined 24 percent from August 2010, data showed on Tuesday.
Car sales in September reached 49,137 units against 37,208 units in the same month last year, and compared to August sales of 64,762 units, according to the Indonesian Automotive Association (Gaikindo). [ID:nJAK124299]
Domestic car sales for the full year are still expected to rise to a record level on strong consumer demand and wealth creation in an economy expected to expand over six percent this year and next.
Domestic car sales are led by Toyota (7203.T), Mitsubishi (7211.T), Daihatsu (7262.T), Suzuli (7269.T) and Honda (7267.T).
Indonesia's largest automotive distributor is PT Astra International (ASII.JK).
Investors have poured into Indonesia's stock market in the past year, driving it to a record highs, and are now favouring consumer stocks on the growing strength of domestic demand, brokers say.
