UPDATE 1-eBay, Groupon in co-marketing deal

NEW YORK | Mon Oct 25, 2010 9:33am EDT

NEW YORK Oct 25 (Reuters) - EBay Inc (EBAY.O) said on Monday that it has begun listing Groupon.com's daily deals and allowing its members to collect and redeem points from purchases they make, in a move that will increase eBay's presence in the fast growing group buying segment.

Members of an eBay rewards program who make Groupon purchases through eBay's website will earn 5 percent of the transaction back in points they can redeem on eBay.

Groupon, which sends its members daily e-mails with about 200 deals, is present in 250 markets in North America. The deals are activated only when a minimum number of people agree to make a purchase, giving Groupon clout to negotiate steep group discounts. (Reporting by Phil Wahba, editing by Gerald E.
