TOKYO Nov 1 (Reuters) - Japan will monitor comments and behaviour by Russia's government after President Dmitry Medvedev's visit to a disputed island, Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshito Sengoku said on Monday.

Medvedev's visit to the island, one of four known as the Southern Kuriles in Russia and the Northern Territories in Japan, looked certain to snarl ties between Tokyo and Moscow ahead of an Asia-Pacific leaders summit that Japan will host in mid-November.
