WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Virginia Democratic Representative Rick Boucher lost his re-election bid on Tuesday to Republican state lawmaker Morgan Griffith, CNN and Fox projected, a boost for Republicans seeking to win control of the House of Representatives.

Boucher represents a more conservative part of Virginia and voted against the healthcare legislation but backed the stimulus package aimed at reviving the struggling economy.
