UPDATE 1-DTS Q3 tops view on Blu-ray, automotive markets

Nov 8 (Reuters) - Audio technology company DTS Inc (DTSI.O) posted third-quarter results above market estimates, helped by continued strength in the Blu-ray and automotive markets.
For the third quarter, income from continuing operations increased 74 percent to $3.4 million, or 19 cents a share, compared to $2 million, or 11 cents a share, in the year-ago period.
Revenue rose 40 percent to $21 million.
Analysts were expecting a profit of 16 cents a share, on revenue of $19.6 million, according to Thomson Reuters I/B/E/S.
The company's primary competitor is Dolby Laboratories Inc (DLB.N).
Shares of DTS, which have risen 14 percent since its last quarterly report in August, closed at $42.30 Monday on Nasdaq. (Reporting by Jennifer Robin Raj in Bangalore; Editing by Prem Udayabhanu)
