Myanmar's two main pro-democracy parties say lost election

YANGON Nov 9 (Reuters) - Myanmar's two largest pro-democracy parties conceded on Tuesday they had lost the country's first election in 20 years and accused the main military-backed party of manipulating the results.

The National Democratic Force (NDF), a breakaway faction from Nobel Peace Prize-winner Aung San Suu Kyi's now-disbanded National League for Democracy, said it had only won 16 seats in Yangon and lost all other divisions.

The Democratic Party (Myanmar) also conceded defeat.

Both accused the army-backed Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP), closely aligned with junta supremo Than Shwe, of irregularities. A USDP official earlier said his party expected to win as many as 80 percent of seats in the parliamentary election. (Reporting by Aung Hla Tun; Writing by Jason Szep; Editing by Alan Raybould)
