CUPERTINO, CA, Nov 10 (MARKET WIRE) --
tuCloud and Kaviza today announced that Lawrence Livermore National
Laboratory, a National Nuclear Security Administration laboratory, has
chosen the tuCloud DesktopsOnDemand(TM) service running Kaviza virtual
desktops.
Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, a National Nuclear Security
Administration laboratory, wanted to provide employees with a safe
mechanism to access social networking and other web-based resources that
posed a potential risk to its internal networks. The Lab chose the
concept of a "Safeweb" -- remotely hosted virtual desktops that employees
could safely connect to from their desktops to access web resources to
collaborate, communicate and utilize social media outside the lab. The
virtual desktop solution had to be easy to use, quick to set up, and very
affordable, while offering employees a rich and consistent user
experience.
"Following a thorough evaluation, we chose the tuCloud DesktopsOnDemand
service running Kaviza virtual desktops because it best met our
particular needs and requirements. We found that this solution is able to
integrate with our diverse range of client platforms, and provides a
high-quality remote desktop experience across the WAN in a cost-effective
manner. The popularity of this solution has also served to strengthen
LLNL's cyber security posture," said Robin Goldstone, Safeweb Project
Manager.
"We are very excited to be able to offer Lawrence Livermore National
Laboratory what we (and they) believe to be the most cost-effective
hosted virtual desktop solution available on the market today," said
Guise Bule, CEO at tuCloud. "We recently conducted a detailed survey of
the 1500+ LLNL desktop users we currently have on our Desktops on
Demand(TM) service powered by Kaviza and 48% of them said that the
desktop experience was very good, a further 46% told us that the desktop
performance was acceptable for all of their needs."
"Leading organizations like Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory are
looking for the convenience of a managed desktop solution that is
complete yet affordable and can be scaled on-demand," said Kumar K.
Goswami, CEO Kaviza. "By aligning with MSPs such as tuCloud who share our
vision, we are furthering Kaviza's mission of making virtual desktops a
viable and cost-effective alternative to PCs for organizations of all
sizes and industries."
