LONDON (Billboard) - Bon Jovi lands another pan-European No. 1, as the band's new "Greatest Hits" compilation makes a winning start on Billboard's European Albums chart.

The veteran American rock act missed out on the European crown with its last studio release "The Circle," which debuted and peaked at No. 2 exactly a year ago. That interrupted a perfect run including 2007's "Lost Highway," which spent four weeks at No. 1, "Have A Nice Day," (two weeks in 2005), "Bounce" (one week in 2002) and "Crush," on top for no fewer than seven weeks in 2000.

"Greatest Hits" debuts in pole position in Portugal and Ireland, with No. 2 starts in the United Kingdom, Germany and Austria, No. 3 in Holland in Switzerland and No. 5 in Norway.

The "Circle Tour" continues until December 19, and following further North American dates in February and March, the band will embark on a major 2011 European tour opening June 8 in Zagreb.

After two weeks at No. 3 on European Albums, Shakira's "Sale El Sol" moves up a place, spending a second week atop the French chart and climbing 3-1 in Italy.

It's down 1-2 in Portugal and 1-3 in the Belgian region of Wallony, but climbs 15-4 in Hungary and 14-7 in the Czech Republic, holding at No. 3 in Spain and adding a No. 3 debut in Poland.

After two weeks as Europe's No. 1 album, Kings of Leon's "Come Around Sundown" dips to No. 3. It's new at No. 1 in Poland, but falls 1-4 in the United Kingdom and 1-3 in Ireland.

Jamiroquai's "Rock Dust Light Star" debuts at No. 4 overall. Its best start is at No. 1 in Holland, followed by No. 2 in France and Switzerland, No. 6 in Austria, No. 7 in both the United Kingdom and Germany and No. 10 in Wallony. First-week U.K. sales are 34,000.

Robbie Williams' "In and Out of Consciousness - Greatest Hits 1990-2010" and Andrea Berg's "Schwerelos" are moving down the collective countdown, 2-5 and 5-6 respectively.

Williams does climb 5-3 in the Czech Republic, 22-10 in Hungary and 18-12 in Poland, while Berg spends a second week at No. 1 in Germany and climbs 11-9 in Switzerland, but falls 1-3 in Austria.

Girls Aloud member Cheryl Cole's sophomore solo album "Messy Little Raindrops" jumps onto the composite chart at No. 7, after selling 105,000 copies to open at No. 1 in the United Kingdom.

The fifth installment in Rod Stewart's "Great American Songbook" series, "Fly Me To The Moon," climbs 62-8 collectively, after debuting at No. 5 in the United Kingdom, on 38,000 sales. It's up 6-4 in Sweden, 36-6 in Poland and holds at No. 9 in Spain.

Taylor Swift's U.S. million-seller "Speak Now" moves into the pan-European top ten, 12-9, despite a sharp second-week U.K. decline, 6-22. The album holds at No. 10 in Spain but falls 4-8 in Norway and 6-7 in Ireland.

Anglo-Pakistani vocal discovery Rumer makes a top ten start with "Seasons of My Soul." Her No. 10 entry is fueled by a No. 3 debut in the United Kingdom on sales of 66,000.
