Myanmar pro-democracy leader Suu Kyi greets supporters
BANGKOK |
BANGKOK Nov 13 (Reuters) - Pro-democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi greeted hundreds of supporters on Saturday at the gate of her home after seven years of house arrest by Myanmar's army rulers.
The Nobel Peace Prize winner has spent 15 of the past 21 years in detention. There was also no official comment on her release from her party or the government.
The latest detention dates from last August, when a court found she had broken a law protecting the state against "subversive elements" by allowing an American intruder to stay at her home for two nights.
