SEOUL Nov 23 (Reuters) - South Korea's central bank will hold an emergency meeting of senior officials at 6 p.m. (0900 GMT), an official said, following media and military reports that North Korea had fired dozens of artillery shells at a South Korean island, setting buildings on fire and killing at least one South Korean soldier.

The Bank of Korea would assess the possible market impact but the meeting was not aimed at reviewing interest rates, an official at the central bank said. (Reporting by Yoo Choonsik, writing by Miyoung Kim; editing by Chris Lewis)
