WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Whistle-blowing website WikiLeaks is endangering the lives of U.S. forces and people who support the United States around the world, the top U.S. military officer said, ahead of the expected release of more classified U.S. documents.

"I would hope that those who are responsible for this would, at some point in time, think about the responsibility that they have for lives that they're exposing and the potential that's there and stop leaking this information," Admiral Mike Mullen, chairman of the U.S. military's Joint Chiefs of Staff, said in an interview with CNN's Fareed Zakaria GPS due to air Sunday.

CNN provided an advanced transcript Friday.

It’s amazing, isn’t it. Governments should be made up of the best in the country: honest and honourable. Instead, a lot of the time they seem to be much closer to the opposite.
I hope Wikileaks will not be caught, shut down or its members even killed. They doing a hell of a job empowering the people. Knowledge is power!

What else do they intend to “leak”? Churchill let British citizens die rather than let Germany know they had broken their codes?
Nixon was spying on Americans to steal the reelection at the Watergate?

How far back will current governments need to worry that these anarchists “protecting” the “right to know” (which is not even an option in most of the world) will release?
