RIYADH (Reuters) - Saudi Arabia's King Abdullah underwent a successful operation in the United States on Friday to stabilize vertebrae in his spinal column, the kingdom's royal court said in a statement carried by its state news agency.

"The king underwent surgery at six in the morning, New York time, and the operation was a success," the statement released by the Saudi Press Agency said.
