WASHINGTON Dec 15 (Reuters) - A test of the sole U.S. defense against long-range ballistic missiles failed on Wednesday, the second in a row involving the system managed by Boeing Co (BA.N), the Defense Department said.

Officials will investigate the cause of the failure to intercept the target missile over the Pacific Ocean, said Richard Lehner, a spokesman for the Pentagon's Missile Defense Agency. (Reporting by Jim Wolf)

With a success rate of 57%, this system ranks with other Boeing-managed programs such as SBINET and the mother of all fiascos, Future Combat Systems. Boeing should stick to building airplanes. Oh wait, the 787 has turned into the NightmareLiner. Is there anything Boeing has done well lately?
