AMSTERDAM Dec 24 (Reuters) - A Dutch warship is sailing to the Ivory Coast to provide logistical support to French naval ships and possibly assist in the evacuation of European citizens if violence worsens in the troubled West African nation.

The Dutch Defence Ministry said on Friday the French government had requested assistance from the Netherlands, which agreed to despatch the warship, the Amsterdam, to Ivory Coast, where violence has erupted after a disputed presidential election. (Reporting by Aaron Gray-Block)
