Leak shuts Exxon Mobil platform in Gulf of Mexico
HOUSTON |
HOUSTON (Reuters) - An Exxon Mobil oil and gas production platform in Gulf of Mexico block West Delta 73 has been shut due to a small leak, a filing with the U.S. National Response Center said Monday.
The leak was described as a "pinhole" leak in a fuel scrubber that caused a discharge of about 5 gallons of natural gas condensate into the Gulf, creating a mile-long sheen.
An Exxon Mobil spokesman was unable to comment immediately on the report.
