** The UK Takeover Panel ruled on Tuesday that food tycoon Ranjit Boparan must announce a firm intention to make an offer for British group Northern Foods NFDS.L by Jan. 21 or walk away. [ID:nLDE703167]

** Brazil state-run oil giant Petrobras (PETR4.SA)(PBR.N) said on Tuesday it was considering buying the stake of Italy's ENI SpA (ENI.MI) in Portuguese rival Galp (GALP.LS). [ID:nN04212559]
