Clinton criticizes latest Israel move on settlements
ABU DHABI |
ABU DHABI Jan 9 (Reuters) - U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said on Sunday Israel's move to proceed with an East Jerusalem settlement project by razing a derelict hotel undermined the peace effort.
"This disturbing development undermines peace efforts to achieve the two-state solution," Clinton said in a statement in Abu Dhabi, where she is on an official visit.
"In particular, this move contradicts the logic of a reasonable and necessary agreement between the parties on the status of Jerusalem."

The 1949 cease fire lines were never recognized by most nations, but became holy when, 18 years after coming into existence, they were erased during an unsuccessful combined attempt by Egypt, Jordan, and Syria to conquer the state of Israel and commit genocide against its Jewish faith citizens.
It is clear now, since Israel does not have US support, that Israel’s neighbors will not see any benefit in reaching peace with it. Israel will have to reach a financial, scientific, and manufacturing base sufficient to replace any dubious future help from the US pro-Arab government, and convince Arab and Palestinian people that making peace is the right way, even though the US and its allies prefer that annoying Israel state cease to exist.
Long term, Israel has to replace US hegemony in the middle east, since relying on the US is much too dangerous to the life and health of millions of Israelis.
