Big ratings for "Wipeout," "Big Bang Theory"
LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - U.S. network ABC easily won the night Thursday with one of its top series returning.
"Wipeout" (10.5 million, 3.6 rating/11 share) was the most-watched program during the 8 p.m. hour and was also victorious in the demo.
CBS was a close second (10.3 million, 2.9/9) in the hour with a repeat of "The Big Bang Theory" (10.4 million, 3.0/9) -- which actually beat "Wipeout" in total viewers during the first half-hour -- and "$#*! My Dad Says" rerun (10.2 million, 2.9/8).
Fox aired an original "Million Dollar Drop" (5.7 million, 1.7/5) but was barely competitive with "Wipeout."
CBS (10.1 million) was still the most-watched network of the night, despite running "CSI" (9.7 million, 2.1/5) and "The Mentalist" (10.3 million) reruns in the 9 and 10 p.m. hours.
A new "Grey's Anatomy" (12.2 million, 4.4/12) ticked up at 9 p.m., seeing its best numbers since October, and was the top program of the night. ABC pre-empted "Private Practice" at 10 p.m., re-airing Shonda Rhimes' protege Jenna Bans' new medical drama "Off the Map" premiere instead due to Wednesday's chaotic schedule shifts and changes to accommodate President Obama's memorial speech.
The re-air drew 6 million viewers and grabbed a 2.0 rating in the key demo, essentially the same rating as its premiere the night before, when it pulled in a 2.3. Tacked onto Wednesday's 7.6 million viewers, the next episode could drastically improve, one could assume.
At 9 p.m., Fox aired a "Bones" (4.4 million, 1.3/3) repeat. The CW ran repeats of its Thursday lineup: "The Vampire Diaries" (1.6 million, 0.6/2) and "Nikita" (1.5 million, 0.5/1).
NBC aired repeats of its comedy block: back-to-back "Community" (2.6 million, 1.1/3) episodes, two episodes of "The Office" (3.4 million, 1.6/4) and back-to-back "30 Rock" (2.6 million, 1.2/3).
