UPDATE 2-CVS names 2 interim heads of its retail business
* 2 EVPs to head retail pharmacy unit on interim basis
* Search for president for unit resumes
* Move comes weeks after court blocked Wal-Mart exec
* Shares down 0.5 percent (Adds share activity, background on business unit)
NEW YORK, Jan 18 (Reuters) - CVS Caremark Corp (CVS.N) has named two of its executives to head its drugstore unit on an interim basis, several weeks after a Delaware court blocked a Wal-Mart Stores Inc (WMT.N) executive from taking that job.
Mike Bloom, CVS's executive vice president of merchandising and supply chain, and Scott Baker, executive vice president of international operations and real estate, are jointly managing the retail business for CVS' 7,100 stores while the company looks for someone permanent.
CVS said on Tuesday that it had resumed its search for a permanent president of the unit.
CVS had hired Hank Mullany, who was president of Wal-Mart's northern U.S. division until Nov. 5. The discount retailer sued CVS, saying the move would violate a noncompete agreement.

Mullany was to succeed Larry Merlo, who is now CVS Caremark's chief operating officer and is due to replace Tom Ryan as chief executive officer when he steps down in May.
Third-quarter sales from CVS' retail division came to $14.2 billion, or 59.4 percent of total net revenue.
The company said on an analyst call last week that it had a 19 percent share of the U.S. retail prescriptions market. Its rival, Walgreen Co (WAG.N), said in November that its share had reached 19.5 percent.
CVS shares were down 0.5 percent at $34.90 in morning trading. (Reporting by Phil Wahba, editing by Gerald E. McCormick and Lisa Von Ahn)
