Iran says ready for fuel swap talks

MOSCOW Jan 20 (Reuters) - Iran is ready for talks with major powers on a nuclear fuel swap deal, Iran's envoy to the International Atomic Energy Agency Ali Asghar Soltanieh said on Thursday.

Speaking ahead of a meeting in Istanbul between Iran and six major powers, Soltanieh said that Tehran was ready to carry out fuel swap talks with the Vienna Group, which includes France, Russia and the United States. Would someone please tell me what the West gets out of such a swap? Best I can tell, it just processes their raw ore into fuel that will work in a peacful reactor. What’s to keep them from finishing the separation until they have bomb-grade material?
