BERLIN Jan 26 (Reuters) - German Chancellor Angela Merkel and European Commission chief Jose Manuel Barroso discussed the size of the euro bailout fund at dinner late on Tuesday but did not argue about it, Merkel's spokesman said on Wednesday.

Steffen Seibert told a news conference Merkel and Barroso discussed the Commission's proposal to increase the European Financial Stability Facility, which Germany broadly opposes if it affects the fund's headline 440 billion euro capacity. [ID:nLDE70O2HM]

"Dispute is too strong a word," Seibert said, adding however that it was a "lively discussion".
