CAIRO (Reuters) - Following are security developments in Egypt as of 6:30 a.m. Eastern Time on Saturday, from Reuters witnesses or witnesses who spoke to Reuters, unless otherwise stated.

CAIRO - Several thousand protesters are around the capital's main Tahrir square, some carrying Egyptian flags, saying they will not leave until President Hosni Mubarak steps down. Army armored vehicles are stationed there. Police fire shots near demonstrators, not clear if the rounds were live.
* ALEXANDRIA - A Reuters witness said the police use teargas and live ammunition against thousands of demonstrators in the northern city. He says the death toll in the city since Friday has reached 20. A witness says Carrefour supermarket is being looted.
* CAIRO - Authorities extend hours of curfew in Cairo, Suez and Alexandria so it runs from 4 p.m. (1400 GMT) to 8 a.m. (0600 GMT).
ISMAILIA - Thousands of protesters gather in the city, east of Cairo. Police fire teargas and rubber bullets.
* SUEZ - Several hundred protesters gather in center of the port city. The demonstrations are smaller than recent days.
SUEZ - About 100 people gather outside the morgue in the city saying it was holding the bodies of 12 protesters killed in anti-government demonstrations.
DAMANHOUR - Thousands protest in the Nile Delta city.
