NEW YORK Jan 31 (Reuters) - The Securities and Exchange Commission has requested information from the financially troubled Pennsylvania capital of Harrisburg as part of a bond disclosures probe, a spokesman for the city's mayor said on Monday.

The city faces possible bond defaults, deep service cuts, or a rare municipal bankruptcy because of $288 million in debt incurred by a trash incinerator following years of debt refinancing and cost overruns on construction. (Reporting by Edith Honan; Editing by Diane Craft)
