UPDATE 1-Entegris Q4 beats market, sees orders up in 2011
* Q4 adj EPS $0.23 vs est $0.19
* Q4 rev $182.1 mln vs $179.6 mln
Feb 1 (Reuters) - Chip equipment maker Entegris Inc (ENTG.O) posted better-than-expected quarterly results, helped by sales of its liquid filtration products, and said business trends in the fourth quarter were positive.
Entegris said ongoing investments in a number of new fabs drove sales of its fluid handling components and systems, and should drive increasing orders in 2011 and beyond for a wide range of its contamination control and wafer handling products.
The company makes products for purifying and transporting materials used in the semiconductor and other high-tech industries.
Relatively high fab utilization rates and stable wafer starts at its semiconductor customers contributed to continued growth in its unit-driven sales, the company said.
Fourth-quarter net income was $27 million, or 20 cents per share, compared with $10.1 million, or 8 cents a share, in the year-ago period. Revenue rose 24 percent to $182.1 million.
Adjusted earnings were 23 cents a share.
Analysts on average were expecting a profit of 19 cents a share on revenue of $179.6 million, according to Thomson Reuters I/B/E/S.
Shares of Entegris, which have gained 89 percent over the past one year, closed at $7.65 Monday on Nasdaq. They were trading up 2 percent at $7.82 in premarket trade. (Reporting by Jennifer Robin Raj in Bangalore; Editing by Unnikrishnan Nair)
