News Corp quarterly profit up on cable nets

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Rupert Murdoch's News Corp posted a rise in quarterly profit on a strong performance at its cable networks like FX, National Geographic and its international channels.

Fiscal second-quarter net income was $642 million, or 24 cents a share, compared with $254 million, or 10 cents a share, a year earlier. Revenue rose by 1 percent to $8.76 billion.
