Con Ed delivers record amounts of natgas in Jan.

NEW YORK Feb 4 (Reuters) - Con Edison Inc (ED.N) delivered record amounts of natural gas so that its residential and business customers in New York could stay warm during a cold and snowy January.

The company said in a release late Thursday it delivered 25.14 million dekatherms of gas to its distribution customers last month, breaking the old record of 23.86 million dekatherms in January 2009.

Con Edison said December 2010 ranked third on its all-time list. The company delivered 23.76 million dekatherms during that month.

In addition, Con Ed said it set monthly, daily and hourly records when counting delivery of natural gas to electric and steam generation facilities in January.

The monthly delivery record was 36.77 million dekatherms, the daily record was 1.34 million dekatherms and the hourly record was 66,431 dekatherms.

Con Ed provides electricity, gas and steam to more than three million homes and businesses in New York City and Westchester County. (Reporting by Scott DiSavino; Editing by John Picinich)
