FACTBOX-Banker pay and bonuses for 2010
Feb 8 (Reuters) - The top five U.S. banks will pay staff a combined $119 billion for 2010, up 4 percent from 2009, and average pay for investment bankers at Deutsche Bank (DBKGn.DE) and UBS (UBSN.VX) also rose, based on 2010 results.
Swiss bank UBS said on Tuesday total compensation rose 3 percent last year, although it reduced its bonus pool 10 percent to 4.3 billion Swiss francs ($4.5 billion) and deferred 1.55 billion of the payouts.
There remains intense scrutiny on how much banks pay staff, especially in Europe, amid public anger bankers are being well rewarded just two years after many lenders needed taxpayer help and countries are cutting public sector pay.
New regulations are forcing banks to pay a bigger share in securities or defer awards.
