Imbalanced growth driving inflation - IMF chief
WASHINGTON |
WASHINGTON Feb 10 (Reuters) - International Monetary Fund chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn on Thursday said imbalanced global growth is fueling inflationary pressures.
"A large part of inflation strength comes from the imbalanced growth ... and strong demand in the emerging markets," Strauss-Kahn said, speaking at the IMF ahead of the Group of 20 finance ministers' meeting in Paris next week.
Strauss-Kahn said inflation had become an issue again because of overheating economies in emerging markets and higher food and energy prices. (Reporting by David Lawder and Lesley Wroughton; Editing by Chizu Nomiyama)
