Springpad Rides Android Surge to One Million Users

Springpad Reaches Million Member Milestone 100 Days Faster Than Evernote, Riding Wave of Increased Android Adoption and Improved Mobile Store

Springpad said today it has surpassed one million registered users for its “smart” note application, a milestone reached in less than a year thanks to the surge in Android phone adoption and its recently improved mobile marketplace.

Springpad surged beyond one million users more than 100 days faster than the popular note taking app Evernote. In January alone, Springpad saw more than 250,000 new signups. A breakdown of its one million users shows almost half are on the Android platform, despite the app debuting in the iPhone store almost two months earlier. Today, 46 percent of users are on Android devices, about 27 percent are on iOS devices, including the iPad, and about 27 percent registered via the Web application.

“There is a very compelling value proposition for consumers to use apps like Springpad to help them save the ideas and information they want for later,” said Jeff Janer, co-founder and CEO of Springpad. “As the volume of information available to consumers grows through social services, search and content sites, users have gravitated towards using Springpad as a way for them to capture the information they need and access it at their convenience."

In addition to a significant acceleration in user registration, Springpad has also seen dramatically increased usage, with the ratio of items saved per user more than doubling over the past 60 days. A recently released automated import tool to import Delicious bookmarks also drove adoption and usage in the past few weeks.

The most commonly saved items are notes, tasks and bookmarks. Users also benefit from Springpad's unique semantic data detection to save products, books, movies, recipes and more to automatically get enhanced information, including price drops, local availability and coupons on more than:

  • 425,000 products
  • 325,000 recipes
  • 250,000 places
  • 175,000 books
  • 150,000 movies

With top ratings from users across Android, iPhone, iPad and the Web, Springpad has become the app of choice for users looking to quickly and easily save the ideas and information they want to remember.

Today Springpad is providing a smarter way to save and organize anything users want to remember across platforms and borders. So far, more than 10 million items have been saved by users to remember, organize and take action on everything from lists to recipes, to places they want to go, to products they want to buy, helping them make more efficient use of their time and money. More than a digital filing cabinet, Springpad acts as a personal assistant to provide useful and timely information around users’ interests.
