InterContinental Insurance Brokers, LLC and SafeHarbor Consulting & Risk Management, LLC announce the formation of a multi-disciplined national insurance brokerage providing a full range of insurance advisory services to businesses and private clients. The new company will serve two broad practice areas: property & casualty and employee & executive benefits. The property & casualty practice will operate under the brand name, InterContinental Insurance Solutions, led by Thomas E. Sleeper, CEO and Thomas E. O’Neil, COO. The employee & executive benefits practice will continue to operate as SafeHarbor Consulting & Risk Management, led by J. Brent Finnegan, Managing Partner. The new organization also received capital from private investors to be used for acquisitions.
“The significant consolidation of brokers and consultants by large entities focused on quarterly earnings has left a void in the market for clients seeking tailored execution of services for their insurance needs,” said Thomas E. O’Neil. “Our new organization fills that void by delivering on the brand promise to provide clients with a superior level of consulting and brokerage services extended in a personalized, private company manner. I am excited to join forces with Tom Sleeper and InterContinental who have built a solid reputation of putting the clients first. Our combined capital base has no debt and gives us numerous advantages in the marketplace.”
The combined practice will foster a highly-customized team approach to the delivery of client solutions. Clients now have access to a broad range of tools and resources across a wide spectrum of insurance products and services. In addition, the combined firm has added new senior leadership in the practice areas of Environmental Insurance and Financial Products.
”This is a winning combination for our clients,” said Thomas E. Sleeper. "Instantly, we have a diverse set of sales, technical, and operating skills to bring to existing and new clients. We also have the capital strength and leadership to expand even faster, whether by acquiring individuals or even similar businesses to enhance our capabilities."
Future expansion will be achieved through additional acquisitions, and the hiring of new producers and account management professionals. J. Brent Finnegan added, “Our new company will be the premier alternative for independent brokerage firms and their owners who seek operational expertise, strong capital structure, and enhanced production capabilities, but are reluctant to join the national brokers to obtain these critical components and risk losing their identities.”
The merger is being advised by Hales Capital Securities, a leading national advisor to the insurance and insurance distribution sectors. According to Hales, “It is rare to find a team with complementary skills of this caliber to come together and create a new insurance brokerage platform. The enhanced organization is a compelling choice for boutique companies and teams who are looking for a ‘ground floor’ opportunity to join and help shape this emerging broker.”
