Merit Financial Raises Over $43,000 to Support the Wounded Warrior Project

PR Newswire

LOS ANGLES, Feb. 16, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Merit Financial, a national leader in precious metals investment services, created the "Shipping Cost Donation Program" last year in an effort to raise awareness of the cause of the Wounded Warrior Project (WWP), a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization dedicated to honoring and empowering wounded servicemen and women. Through the program, Merit offers free shipping to clients who make donations to the Wounded Warrior Project.  Final accounting in 2010 showed that total donations totaled $43,951.00 for the year.

Mike Getlin, Vice-President of Merit Financial, was honored and humbled by the opportunity to work with the nonprofit organization.  Mr. Getlin stated, "I cannot even begin to express the debt of gratitude that we owe the brave heroes of our armed forces.  While our donation was small when compared to the sacrifice made by our soldiers, we were proud to have been able to support our troops when they returned home."

Over 40,000 of our nation's armed forces have been physically wounded during the current military conflicts.  Hundreds of thousands more are estimated to be recovering from invisible wounds of war, including post-traumatic stress disorder, major depression, and traumatic brain injury.  WWP assists wounded warriors and their families through a holistic approach to their recovery.  Whether through caregiver retreats, combat stress programs, career and education services, or adaptive sporting opportunities, WWP empowers warriors with the tools essential to not just survive their injuries but to thrive and achieve personal and professional success.

In 2011, Merit will continue to work with WWP to raise both funds and awareness for its cause.  In addition to the Wounded Warrior Project, Merit supports local organizations in Southern California including the Santa Monica Police Activities League and the L.A. County Sherriff's Department.

Merit Financial is a Precious Metals Firm located in Santa Monica, CA.  Established in 1985, Merit Financial is one of America's leading providers of physical gold and other precious metals for direct delivery and in Precious Metals IRAs.  Merit has carved an industry niche by promoting one of the highest customer satisfaction rankings in the country while offering Gold Bullion products at just 1% over cost.
