European shares extend losses on Libya concern

LONDON Feb 21 (Reuters) - European shares extended losses in the late afternoon session on Monday, led by Italian stocks on their exposure to growing civil unrest in Libya. At 1521 GMT, the FTSEurofirst 300 .FTEU3 index of leading shares was down 1.1 percent at 1,174.60 points, while Italy's benchmark index FTSE MIB .FTMIB was down 3.3 percent.

Top Italian lender UniCredit (CRDI.MI), in which Tripoli has a 7.5 percent stake, was the biggest faller across Europe, down 5.6 percent.
