Qatar's ambassador leaves Libya: state TV

DUBAI (Reuters) - Qatar's ambassador to Libya has left the country a foreign ministry official told a briefing of foreign diplomats on Wednesday in Libya, where a revolt is threatening Muammar Gaddafi's 41-year rule.

The official said he had offered to take Al Jazeera, the Qatar-based television news channel, to areas that had been reported bombed to verify whether such attacks had taken place, and that Al Jazeera had declined.

"And the Qatari ambassador left the country," the official, whose name was not given said on state television.

Earlier this week Al Jazeera said Libya's intelligence agency was behind the powerful jamming signals disrupting its broadcast across much of the region.
