SAN FRANCISCO, CA, Feb 24 (MARKET WIRE) --
MuleSoft, the provider of web middleware built on leading open source
projects Mule ESB and Apache Tomcat, today announced that InfoSpace Inc.
(NASDAQ: INSP), a leader in the Internet search market, has selected Mule
ESB as the enterprise service bus to power its online properties,
including its next-generation portal architecture, web search sites,
partner distribution sites and specialty e-commerce stores under its
Mercantila brand. With Mule ESB, InfoSpace engineers will develop
business services that can easily be configured and consumed by multiple
applications.
"We were impressed with MuleSoft's highly extensible, open source
enterprise services bus and its ability to bridge and integrate our
differing platforms simply and efficiently across all of InfoSpace's
properties," said Travis McElfresh, chief technology officer at
InfoSpace, Inc. "Mule ESB offers a technological solution that we trust
and allows InfoSpace's talented team of engineers to focus on further
innovation of our search and e-commerce products and services."
InfoSpace's proprietary metasearch technology combines the top results
from several of the largest online search engines, providing fast and
comprehensive search results. MuleSoft's ESB platform will support
InfoSpace's properties, which search sites such as Dogpile(R),
InfoSpace.com(R), MetaCrawler(R), WebCrawler(R), WebFetch(R), and more
than 100 distribution partner websites. In addition, the company operates
an e-commerce channel that includes a collection of more than 200
specialty retail stores under the Mercantila(R) brand, and an innovative
online search engine optimization tool, WebPosition(R).
InfoSpace will first use Mule at Mercantila, its e-commerce subsidiary,
where Mule will be deployed in a cloud environment and power integration
with InfoSpace's vendors and other business partners. Over time, Mule is
expected to be rolled out across other InfoSpace's businesses -- for
example, serving as a component of InfoSpace's private-label portal
solution for its ISP partners. As InfoSpace continues to grow and enter
new businesses, the team plans to leverage Mule's powerful features,
including its orchestration capabilities and Mule Cloud Connect, for new
products and services that the company will offer in the future.
"In many ways, InfoSpace is representative of the next generation of
businesses models -- creating value by forming a network of partners and
integrating their data and services, resulting in something much more
than the sum of its parts," said Mahau Ma, VP of Marketing for MuleSoft.
"We were pleased that Mule has proven to be the ideal platform for
InfoSpace's extended business ecosystem and power its portfolio of
businesses."
