PARIS, March 12 (Reuters) - Renault's (RENA.PA) head of security is being questioned by police in connection with a fast unravelling industrial espionage probe at the French carmaker, judicial and police sources said on Saturday.

Two security managers at Renault who know the identity of an informant who sparked the probe were put in police custody on Friday on suspicion of fraud. [ID:nLDE72A264]

All three men were being questioned by France's DCRI domestic intelligence agency, a spokeswoman for the Paris prosecutor told Reuters. Renault fired three executives and lodged a legal complaint in January over suspected spying at its electric vehicle programme amid fears that information had been leaked to foreign interests. But Renault has since admitted it may have been tricked.

The executives have all denied any wrongdoing. (Reporting by Nicolas Bertin; Writing by James Regan)
