Tokyo bourse to open Monday, on guard for manipulation
TOKYO, March 13 |
TOKYO, March 13 (Reuters) - The Tokyo Stock Exchange and other Japanese financial markets will re-open on Monday as normal, the government said on Sunday, despite the nation suffering a massive earthquake, a tsunami and a nuclear-power crisis.
Financial Services Minister Shozaburo Jimi said in a statement that authorities would watch market activity closely to ensure against market manipulation in the wake of the disaster, which is estimated to have killed more than 10,000 people. (Reporting by Ayai Tomisawa; Editing by Mark Bendeich)
