JAKARTA, March 16 (Reuters) - Indonesia's central bank plans to issue new 9-month and 12-month term deposits this year, deputy governor Budi Mulya said on Wednesday, part of plans to push investment to less volatile instruments.

Bank Indonesia launched its first six-month term deposit last month after scrapping regular auctions for six-month SBI debt paper.

The term deposit is not tradeable and must be held to maturity, whereas the SBI paper was popular with foreign investors for its liquidity. (Reporting by Adriana Nina Kusuma; Editing by Neil Chatterjee)
