IMF says Portugal has not requested loan program

WASHINGTON, March 23 (Reuters) - Portugal has not requested a loan program backed by the institution, an International Monetary Fund spokeswoman said on Wednesday, dismissing speculation Lisbon was in talks with the fund.

"We have not received a request for financial assistance from the Portuguese authorities," an IMF spokeswoman told Reuters. (Reporting by Lesley Wroughton)
