NEAR AJDABIYAH, Libya, March 25 (Reuters) - Warplanes were heard flying over Ajdabiyah in eastern Libya on Friday followed by three explosions and rebel forces near the town said air strikes had hit Muammar Gaddafi's forces there.

A Reuters correspondent on the road east from the town said he saw plumes of smoke near the eastern approach to Ajdabiyah.

"I am waiting for the jets to finish bombing before going in," said rebel fighter Ahmed al-Misrati. (Reporting by Mohamed Abbas; editing by Andrew Dobbie)
