BANGALORE, March 31 (Reuters) - India's annual gold consumption for 2010 had reached 963.1 tonnes, data from the World Gold Council (WGC) showed on Thursday.

The council expects India's cumulative annual demand to increase to more than 1,200 tonnes by 2020.

The high demand period, when a lot of weddings are scheduled, is currently underway in India, which imported a record of a little over 900 tonnes in 2010. (Reporting by Bharghavi Nagaraju)
